This course focuses on water ecology, water recreation, and water rights in order to prepare students to become informed citizen on water management issues. While students build water navigation, aquatic ecosystem knowledge, and leadership skills, they are better prepared to become ambassadors for our natural resources, systems, and places.
DELIVERY & LOCATION
Online course work at the student’s home school will be delivered using an online course management system. Immersion in the 4-day course will take place at the Canadian Rockies Outdoor Learning Centre in Bow Valley Provincial Park and surrounding flatwater lakes.
ACTIVITIES & OUTCOMES
Introduction to flatwater canoeing, white water rafting, hiking, water and watershed awareness concepts, basic navigation, trip planning, pond study, and water management issues.
