At the Canadian Rockies Outdoor Learning Centre (OLC), students from across Alberta are invited to discover the power of learning beyond the classroom. Each of our high school credit programs blends experiential education with outdoor adventure, fostering confidence, leadership, and a deep connection to place.

Whether paddling calm waters, exploring snowy trails, or building life skills under the summer sun, these programs create lasting memories and meaningful growth for students. Delivered in breathtaking natural settings and aligned with Alberta Education outcomes, our offerings are designed to challenge, inspire, and empower youth.

Current Program Offerings

The OLC’s current offerings are designed to engage students through meaningful, credit-based outdoor learning experiences. The Summer CALM program blends wellness, personal development, outdoor living, and real-world skill-building, offering CALM and CTS credits in a dynamic summer setting. Winter Travel 15 immerses students in multi-day mountain adventures, where they develop winter survival skills, avalanche awareness, and environmental stewardship while earning high school credits. Winter Travel 25 builds on these foundations, offering deeper backcountry learning and leadership development in challenging alpine conditions. In Water Experience 15, students explore Alberta’s waterways through canoeing, water safety training, environmental study, and stewardship, fostering teamwork, communication, and a strong connection to the natural world.

The OLC in Action

Costs

Program fees are based on a per-student cost and vary depending on the course, length of stay, and transportation needs. Detailed pricing is provided during the booking process; the OLC is happy to work with schools to build cost-effective options that suit their group’s needs.

Booking

All Alberta programs are booked directly through the OLC's Coordinator, Peter Prescesky.  Schools interested in participating are invited to contact the OLC to begin planning their experience. Programs are designed for group delivery, and dates are confirmed in coordination with OLC staff. Course packages, gear lists, and pre-trip planning materials are provided once booking is confirmed.

Cancellation Process

Cancellation policies vary by program and are outlined upon program registration. Schools and districts are encouraged to provide as much notice as possible to avoid cancellation charges. The OLC team will work closely with schools to manage unforeseen changes and minimize disruption to planned experiences.
